MPD Officer and Flight Attendants Honored with Commendations for life saving efforts

On Tuesday, June 6, 2017, Officer Kyle Bishaw-Juario was honored, along with two Island Air flight attendants, during a proclamation at the Mayor’s office.

On March 6, 2017, Officer Bishaw-Juario was off-duty and waiting for his flight at the holding area of the Honolulu International Airport commuter terminal. He witnessed a female passenger having a medical emergency and along with flight attendants Wendy Nakamura-Chan and Shanay Coloma immediately went to her aid. They utilized an automated external defibrillator and was able to save the passenger’s life.

Mayor Alan Arakawa recognized Officer Bishaw-Juario and the two flight attendants with commendations from the County of Maui for their actions and service.

Mayor Arakawa also proclaimed June 1-7, 2017 as National CPR/AED Awareness Week in the County of Maui.
