Fernanda now a Category 3 Hurricane, continues to weaken

Hurricane Fernanda remains a major hurricane, centered this morning at about 1650 miles (2660 km) east of Hilo, Hawaii. Maximum sustained winds are near 125 mph (205 km/h) with higher gusts – a Category 3 hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale. Steady weakening during the next 48 hours is expected.
