Nutrition Workshop: Little Protein Wonders
March 20 @ 11:30 am - 1:30 pmFree
Little Protein Wonders: Beans, Seeds and Nuts
In our typical Western-style diet, two-thirds of our protein intake comes from animal sources, yet scientific research is clear that a diet based on plant foods is the most beneficial for our overall health & longevity. In fact, the American Institute for Cancer Research (AICR) recommends that our “plate” be at least 2/3 plant foods. Many people, however, question if plant proteins are sufficient… do they really measure up to the protein found in animal foods? If you are one of these people…
Come join us for a fun afternoon as we explore plant proteins (with an emphasis on legumes/beans, seeds and nuts). We’ll look at recommended quantity and deconstruct the quality of plant protein. How nutritious are they? Are ‘complementary proteins’ important? We will discuss practical and delicious ways to incorporate these little protein wonders into our everyday diet… and we’ll have fun tasting as well!
