Weekend weather improves with sunshine

Hope you’re having a wonderful weekend! Here on the leeward side of Maui it’s been a beautiful day so far although quite muggy. This afternoon we could see some afternoon cloud build up with the possibility of scattered showers. Skies will clear overnight. High temperatures will climb into the upper 80’s for our hottest areas. Light and variable winds are expected from 5 to 15 mph with local sea breezes.

Winds are expected to be lighter than normal through next week. Winds will weaken and shift out of the southeast through Monday. The southeast flow will bring muggy and hazy conditions. Sea breezes will produce clouds and showers during the afternoons and evenings although we expect the atmosphere to remain rather dry and stable so rainfall will be limited. Trade winds are expected to return Wednesday but still lighter than usual.

Surfwise, the SSW swell is holding. The best exposures in Maui County may see chest-head high, maybe even overhead from time to time. Some west side locations are flat due to shadowing by Lanai/Kahoolawe, likewise east sides are being shadowed by the Big Island. Biggest surf most likely found along south shores where the swell window is more open. With light winds conditions will be pretty good!

UV index is at 12 (extreme exposure level)
Sunset tonight at 6:57pm
Sunrise tomorrow at 5:47am
