Two displaced in Waimaka Street fire

At 4:13pm Kihei and Wailea fire fighters responded to a report of a structure fire at 2138 Waimaka Street. Crews arrived to find a 600 square foot cottage, in the back of the main residence, approximately 25% involved in fire. The fire was brought under control at 4:35pm. No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. The American Red Cross is assisting the 2 displaced residents of this fire.

The investigation has determined dollar loss to be $60,000.00 to the structure and $10,000.00 for the contents. Cause of the fire is undetermined but deemed accidental.
