UPDATE: Two victims from Kahului drown near Honokohau Bay

UPDATE:
On 02/16/15, at about 12:00 PM, Edelene PARILLA (18) and Emmanuel TABBAY (19), both residence of Kahului, were at an area known as “Chutes and Ladders.” The two were accompanied with two other friends.

“Chutes and Ladders” is located just north of Honokau Valley.

All four parties were walking along the rocks near the shore line to see the tide pools. Edelene PARILLA was swept out into the ocean by a wave at which time Emmanuel TABBAY jumped in to the ocean help her.

A friend was able to find a bystander to call for emergency assistance. Rescue personnel responded to the scene. Both PARILLA and TABBAY were located in the ocean, but, no signs of life.

Edelene PARILLA and Emmanuel TABBAY were pronounced dead at the scene.

Cause of death is still pending autopsy results.
