VIDEO: Police are requesting your assistance, Disorderly at “The Triangle” case

On July 12th, 2015, sometime after midnight, MPD received numerous calls reporting a large group of individuals (estimated at least about 100 people) acting in a Disorderly manner in and around the vicinity of the Kihei Kalama Village (aka; “The Triangle”). Security on site also reported a 34 year old adult male was reported lying on the ground unconscious near the Life’s a Beach bar. Other physical fights were continuing in the middle of the roadway outside of the bar.

MPD Officers responded to the scene and upon their arrival found a large group of individuals yelling and taunting one another from both sides of Keala Street between Foodland and the Triangle. While attempting to disburse the crowd and stop these fights, MPD Officers were assaulted by as yet unidentified persons. One of these males ran off towards the Sansei Restaurant and jumped into a gray Toyota Tacoma, four door, pick-up truck, with dark tinted windows.

The investigation finds this incident started between two large rival groups of individuals from the Happy Valley and Kihei areas. Police are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying those involved. Persons with any information may contact Detective Jeff Mahoney of the Kihei Criminal Investigation Division at 875-5409 or Crime Stoppers at 242-6966
