Thunderstorms upgrades island to Flash Flood Warning

At 7:55 PM radar indicated thunderstorms producing very heavy rain over the west Maui mountains and the windward Maui coastline. The area of heavy rainfall is nearly stationary. Radar was showing rain falling at up to 2 to 3 inches per hour. Flash flooding is expected to begin shortly. Locations in this warning include but are not limited to Lahaina, Pukalani, Haliimaile, Pauwela, Waikapu, Wailuku, and Haiku-Pauwela.

The National Weather Service has ISSUED the FLASH FLOOD WARNING for the ISLAND OF MAUI in effect until 11:00 PM.

This flash flood warning replaced the previously issued advisory that was in effect for portions of the island of Maui.
