At 5:22 a.m. radar indicated an area of heavy rain from Hookipa Beach to Hana. This area of rain was nearly stationary with additional heavy showers continuing to move ashore. Radar estimated rainfall totals over the past six hours range from 3 to 5 inches n the area. Reports from the Maui Warning Point indicate two lanes are blocked by large boulders near mile marker 15 on highway 360 in east Maui. Expect this general trend to persist over the next few hours, which will keep the threat of flooding and landslides up across the advisory area. Motorists traveling through this area are encouraged to exercise caution and allow for extra time to reach your destination.
Locations in the advisory include but are not limited to Pukalani, Haliimaile, Makawao, Paia, Pauwela and Nahiku.
