North swell to peak this evening to warning levels

A large north northwest swell will peak this evening through the overnight hours tonight into Sunday morning producing warning level surf along north and west facing shores of the islands exposed to the swell. Surf is expected to gradually trend down late Sunday through the early portion of next week.

This high surf warning replaces the high surf advisory previously in effect for Maui County.

Expect surf along north facing shores of 10 to 15 feet this morning rising to 25 to 35 feet overnight for Molokai and Maui. Surf will then lower to 18 to 25 feet by Sunday afternoon. Along west facing shores expect surf of 18 to 25 feet overnight tonight for Molokai. Surf will then lower to 10 to 15 feet by Sunday afternoon.

The National Weather Service has ISSUED a HIGH SURF WARNING for  NORTH & WEST FACING SHORES OF MOLOKAI and NORTH FACING SHORES OF MAUI now in effect until Sunday at 6:00 P.M.
