At 8:55 a.m. radar and gauges indicated moderate rain continuing to fall across windward Maui this morning. Stream gauges have leveled off but remain elevated, and any briefly heavy shower could produce flooding on saturated ground.
Locations in the advisory include but are not limited to Kahului, Lahaina, Pauwela, Honokowai, Kaupo, Haiku, Makawao and Paia.
The National Weather Service has EXTENDED the FLOOD ADVISORY for MAUI ISLAND in effect until 12:00 p.m.
STAY AWAY FROM STREAMS, DRAINAGE DITCHES AND LOW LYING AREAS PRONE TO FLOODING. RAINFALL AND RUNOFF WILL ALSO CAUSE HAZARDOUS DRIVING CONDITIONS DUE TO PONDING, REDUCED VISIBILITY AND POOR BREAKING ACTION. DO NOT CROSS FAST FLOWING OR RISING WATER IN YOUR VEHICLE OR ON FOOT. TURN AROUND…DON’T DROWN.
