UPDATE: Tropical Storm Warning for Maui County Discontinued

At 5:00 PM, the center of Tropical Storm Darby was located about 70 miles WNW of Honolulu. Darby is moving toward the northwest near 12 mph and this motion is expected to continue over the next 48 hours. On the forecast track, the center of Darby is expected to pass over or near Kauai tonight. Darby has now moved out of Maui County waters and is no longer posing a threat to the islands of Maui County. As a result the Tropical Storm Warning for Maui County has been cancelled.

Maximum sustained winds are near 40 mph with higher gusts. Darby is expected to weaken to a tropical depression tonight and become a post-tropical remnant low in about 2 days.

Tropical storm force winds extend outward up to 80 miles from the center.


Rain bands around tropical storm Darby will bring frequent showers, with localized heavy rainfall and flash flooding possible tonight. A tropical storm warning also remains in effect for Maui County until tonight.

A Tropical Storm warning is in effect for:
* Oahu
* Kauai County

A Tropical Storm warning means that tropical storm conditions are
expected within the warning area within 36 hours.

A Tropical Storm watch means that tropical storm conditions are
possible within the watch area within 48 hours.
