Kahului man dies in a traffic accident in Waikapu

On Saturday, April 22, 2017 at approximately 01:37 a.m., a fatal Motor Vehicle Collision occurred at the King Kamehameha Golf Club in Waikapu.  The collision occurred as a red 2005 Chevrolet 2500 HD Work Truck was traveling east down the private driveway of the King Kamehameha Golf Club when it drifted off the roadway and struck an open metal gate. 

The lone male operator of the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene.  The operator has since been identified as 52 year old William C. White of Kahului.  Preliminary investigation reveals that White was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the collision.  The involvement of speed, drugs and alcohol are still pending as the investigation is ongoing.  This is Maui County’s fourth traffic fatality of 2017 as compared to six this time last year.
