UPDATE: Heavy rains near Ulupalakua prompt Flood Advisory

UPDATE: Weather radar and rain gages showed that the heavy rains have ended, thus the flood advisory is allowed to expire.

At 1:06 PM, radar indicated heavy rain near Ulupalakua. Rain was falling at a rate of 2 inches per hour. Locations in the advisory include but are not limited to Kihei, Ulupalakua, Kula, Keokea, Wailea, Makena and Haleakala National Park.

The National Weather Service has ISSUED a FLOOD ADVISORY for MAUI ISLAND in effect until 4:00 p.m. today.
