Hurricane Harvey shuts down major Houston Airport, travel waivers activated

This morning United Airlines made the decision to suspend all operations at George Bush Intercontinental Airport until noon tomorrow. Shortly thereafter the Federal Aviation Administration closed George Bush Intercontinental Airport to all commercial flying.
In addition to the employees they brought in earlier this week, the airline is working with the FAA to fly in more employees and resources from other hubs to further support and assist our team in Houston and their customers.
Customers in the Houston-area with upcoming travel plans should avoid the airport today and visit or our mobile app for the latest updates, developments and rebooking options.

Additionally, they have extended their travel waiver this morning to provide customers with more flexibility and options. -United Airlines Media Relations Section
