Maui Fair Horticultural Exhibit, Live Demos, and Contest Entries now being accepted

You are invited to submit entries of your favorite homegrown vegetables, fruits, nuts and flowers. Information is available on the Maui Fair website, and at select schools. Entries will be accepted at the War Memorial Gym on Wednesday, October 4, from 4 p.m. – 7 p.m., or Thursday, October 5, from 7 – 10 a.m.

Thanks to University of Hawaii CTAHR, the Hawaii Department of Agriculture, and various partners in the ag industry, there will be lots to learn about agriculture at the Horticulture Exhibit this year!  Gardener? Crafter? Foodie?  There is a little bit of everything. Stop by and learn how foods grow, hints on cooking, and behaviors of local insects. Your questions on scheduled topics are welcome. The Maui Master Gardener Program will be providing information for all of your gardening questions throughout the fair, as well as selling natural Maui honey, vegetable seeds and lots of plants!

Plus, make sure to check out the Horticulture Exhibits art and eating contests throughout the Maui Fair, and if you ever wanted to try your luck at milking a cow moooo on over to the Milking Cow for hands-on milking experience. Test your agriculture knowledge to win many great prizes!  Look for the GET Local logo – Grow, Eat, Think Local. Learn about the local crops and commodities in Maui from the field to the fork.
