One Person in Custody Following Fatal QKC Stabbing

On Sunday, March 18, 2018 at about 3:15 p.m., police were assigned to the Queen Kaahumanu Shopping Center in Kahului for a report of a male victim that had just been stabbed.

Witnesses reported a male suspect fleeing the area.

Officers immediately made checks of the shopping center and surrounding streets, according to authorities.

A male fitting the description of the suspect was pointed out by bystanders at Kahului Community Park. The male was taken into custody and transported to the Wailuku Police Station.

The suspect was arrested for the offense of Murder in the Second Degree but yet to be charged.

The male victim was pronounced dead at the scene and has yet to be identified.

The investigation is still in its preliminary stage and very active.
