Fire Burns Paukukalo Home

At 11:03 a.m. on Sunday,  Maui firefighters were called to reports of a structure fire on Pohala Street in Paukukalo.

Engine 1 (Wailuku), Recue 10 (Kahului), Engine 10 (Kahului), and BC 3 responded.

On scene, crews found a working fire with heavy smoke and flames coming from a bedroom window. Engine 1 and Rescue 10 were able to quickly deploy hoselines and knock down the fire to keep it confined to a single bedroom.

All occupants of the home (two adults and four children) were able to safely exit the structure safely prior to emergency personnel arriving.

There were no injuries to report, and the displaced occupants are currently being assisted by The Red Cross.

Damage estimates are not available at this time as the situation is still being investigated.
