Brush Fire Burns Small Area in Kihei

At 12:58 p.m. on Tuesday, firefighters were called to reports of a brush fire in the area of Liloa Drive at Piikea Avenue in Kihei.

On scene, crews found an area of brush and kiawe approximately 50 feet-by-100 feet actively burning.

Fire crews were able to contain the fire within a half hour, and the blaze was officially declared extinguished at 2:30 p.m.

Goodfellow Brothers water tankers in the area at the time, assisted crews with this firefighting effort.

Fire units from Kihei, Wailea and Kahului responded.

There are no reported injuries or damage to property. The cause of this fire is undetermined.
