Honoapi`ilani Highway Brush Fire Quickly Extinguished

The Maui Fire Department responded to a brush fire in the area of mile marker 8 of Honoapi`ilani Highway on Wednesday.

Responding to the 2:52 p.m. alarm, fire crews arrived to find the blaze burning under clear conditions and 15 mph trade winds.

The fire was deemed contained by 3:10 p.m. and declared extinguished at 3:30 p.m.

A total area of about one quarter of an acre burned.

The cause of the fire is currently unknown.
