The Maui Fire Department is reminding motorists to be careful while driving on Maui’s roadways.

MFD officially offered the following reminders:

• Avoid driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
• Obey traffic laws and posted speed limits.
• Do not use your phone or other mobile devices while behind the wheel.
• Slow down and pull to the right to make way for emergency vehicles.

The featured photos are of Maui firefighters conducting vehicle extrication training. Specialized hydraulic tools are used to create an opening in damaged vehicles. This allows fire crews to safely remove trapped occupants.

The recent training was conducted with the support of Hammerhead Metals, allowing firefighters to work on actual vehicles.
