DOH Cautions About a Suspect Case of a Mosquito-Borne Illness on Maui

A Kahului resident is believed to be infected with a mosquito-borne illness.

The State Department of Health believes it could possibly be Chikungunya or Zika.

The person recently traveled outside of the country and test results to determine the exact illness are pending.

Neighbors within 200 yards of the infected person’s home were notified of the suspected illness last week.

The sick person has been instructed to stay indoors until they have recovered.
