At 8:44 am, radar indicated bands of heavy rain moving over the windward slopes of Haleakala from Kipahulu to Haiku. These bands have been most intense between Hana and Keanae with rain rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour. Stream levels in the area are running higher than normal. Additional rain bands are expected to move over windward Haleakala through today.
Locations in the advisory include but are not limited to Haiku-Pauwela, Huelo, Pauwela, Kipahulu, Makawao, Nahiku, Hana, Kailua and Haleakala National Park.
The National Weather Service has ISSUED a FLOOD ADVISORY for MAUI in effect until11:45 am today.
