Police Investigating Death of Man on Dive Tour

The Maui Police Department is investigating a Feb. 15 incident involving an unresponsive adult male.

According to authorities, at about 10:27 a.m., Molokai Patrol Officers and medics were assigned to meet an incoming dive boat at the Kaunakakai Harbor. Boat crew reported having an unresponsive male aboard their vessel.

Investigation reveals that 26-year-old Duane Harold Parsley II, stationed at Hickam Air Force Base in Honolulu, was part of a scuba diving tour but did not return to the boat as scheduled at 9 a.m.  Parsley was later found unresponsive in an area outside of Kawela I, known as blue sand hole, in approximately 50-feet of water.

Police say life saving measures taken to revive Parsley were unsuccessful and he died. His cause of death is pending autopsy.
