Mokulele Airlines is offering free shipping of up to two bags of groceries per customer on any scheduled flight departing from either Kahului or Honolulu for Molokai or Kalaupapa during the month April.* The offer is in response to a temporary closure of one of the island’s two grocery stores after two store employees reportedly tested positive for COVID-19. The initiative begins immediately.
People wishing to take advantage of the offer should have their groceries delivered to the Mokulele counter at either Honolulu or Kahului at least 30-minutes prior to the flight’s scheduled departure.
“Last week Mokulele announced free neighbor-island shipping of medical and cleaning supplies for hospitals, doctor’s offices, and first responders, “ said Keith Sisson, Chief Marketing Officer for Mokulele Airlines. “After learning about the situation in Molokai, we knew we wanted to do more to help the residents.”
The Friendly Market on Molokai has announced that it will be closed until April 20th, with all employees currently in self-quarantine. Misaki’s, the other major grocery store on the island, announced on Friday that they are going exclusively to a phone-in and walk-up ordering system.
In addition to offering free shipping for residents, Mokulele will work with any retail establishment on Molokai to transport needed groceries and supplies from Oahu or Maui during the month, as well.
“Our message is simple.” said Sisson, “We are here to serve the community. Tell us what you need, and we will do our best to make it work.”
