Update: Power restored to all customers following load shed

Around 12:10 p.m. today, a power outage was experienced by about 18,000 customers in various areas of Maui, including parts of Central Maui, Wailea, Mahinahina, Upcountry, and Haiku to Keanae. Customers were brought back online in phases with all customers restored around 1 p.m.

The outage occurred after a generator tripped and caused a load shed, or when energy loads on the electrical system were automatically dropped on various circuits to protect the system from damage. The cause of the generator trip is currently being assessed.
