Shark bites California man, 73, at Ka’anapali Beach

At 7:45 AM this morning, Fire and Ocean Safety jetski units responded to reports of a snorkeler bitten by a shark estimated to be 8 feet in length. The victim made it to shore on his own power and was given first aid by staff at the KOR.

The victim was last reported to be in good condition and being further evaluated by Medics. JS3 and Ladder 3 will remain on scene advising beach goers to stay out of the water.

UPDATE: Officials will be closing the waters from Black Rock to Honokawai Park until Noon Saturday 1/23.
